Phoenix
This
is the electric-powered version of the Phoenix ornithopter
kit. Easy to build. Includes powerful electric motor
and custom-made, pre-assembled gearbox.
For
RC flying, you will need the Plantraco HFX900 RC system. This
is sold separately, below, and includes transmitter/charger,
Micro 9 receiver, 1.1 gram actuator, and 90 mAh lithium-polymer
battery. RC Phoenix can be flown in a gymnasium or outdoors
in good weather.

Phoenix weighs 15 grams (1/2 ounce) and has a 16 inch (40
cm) wingspan. White tissue wings can be decorated with permanent
marker or inkjet.

Phoenix has slow, powerful wingbeats, quite unlike the mass-produced
toys with their buzzy, insect-like flapping. The ability to
fly in small spaces like your front yard also makes it a whole
lot of fun!
